  In this segment of the program, trainees are taught the common elements of the building trades including carpentry, plumbing, electricity, roofing, and drywall application as they complete actual construction and renovation projects. This training is a rigorous 40 hours per week program of total "hands-on" experience.

    As the trainees learn to use power tools - drills, circular saws, miter saws, etc. - they actually renovate homes and buildings, build decks and wheelchair ramps, install roof shingles.

    Our House has a wood shop where the trainees learn the basics of cabinet making using woodworking equipment.         There are also opportunities to work with outside contractors for practical experience and pay.
