In
this segment of the program, the trainees "give back" to
the community in which they are living. They serve the
poor, the disadvantaged, the elderly and the homeless as well as
nonprofit and government agencies, churches, synagogues, mosques, and
community organizations. By their service to the community,
the trainees are integrated into, and supported by, the local community
in which they live. The skills that they acquire from their
interaction with people from all backgrounds and walks of life prepare
them to be a positive influence upon their return to their home
communities. |

The
trainees volunteer in the community at book fairs, community
festivals and for the municipality itself. Above, one of the Our
House trainees repaints the Olney town sign. To the right, is a
portable stage constructed by the trainees to be used in the annual
Olney Day
parade. |

Every
Saturday morning, the trainees complete a community service
project. Our trainees have completed more than 19,000 community
service hours. By doing community service, the trainees learn a sense of civic
responsibility as they help people in need. This gives them a sense of accomplishment and builds up their
self esteem. |

Above, the trainees decorate gingerbread houses that they will deliver to senior citizens and shut-ins during the Holidays. |
